No. 145 Squadron was formed as a Bomber Reconnaissance (BR) unit at Torbay NF on 30 May 1942. The squadron flew Hudson and Ventura aircraft on anti-submarine patrols from Torbay until it moved to Dartmouth on 30 October 1943. While at Dartmouth the squadron maintained detachments at Torbay and Yarmouth NS. The squadron disbanded at Yarmouth on 30 June 1945.

No. 145 (BR) Squadron sank one U-boat while delivering seven attacks on nine U-boat sightings.
