Royal Canadian Navy Fighter Squadron (1951-52)
Heavier-than-air Fighter Air Squadron [VF 870] (1952-54 / 1955-62)

Formed as the redesignation of 803 Squadron in May 1951, it was renamed VF 870 under the US system of numbering in November 1952 and continued service until it was first disbanded in March 1954. It was then reformed in March 1955 and then disbanded a final time in September 1962.

Role: Served as one of the RCN's Operational Fighter squadrons flying from the carriers.

Aircraft Flown: Hawker Sea Fury , McDonnell Banshee

Home Base: Shearwater, NS (1951-53 / 1956-62) & Summerside, PEI (1953-55)

Ships Served On: HMCS Magnificent, HMCS Bonaventure

Colours: White & Blue
